Keep Regular Backups

It is important to keep dated backup copies of files in a separate location.

Saving your work in some form of order is very good. BUT if it is saved in only one place and the files are lost for some reason, so is your work.

It is essential that you make backups of your work. If you lose one file, you will still have at least one backup.

Below is a suggested backup method if you are working at school:

  • Save your work onto the school network.
  • Save it with a relevant name into a subject folder.
  • Save it onto a floppy disk or a USB flash disk.
  • Take the disk home and save the work onto your computer at home.

It is now saved on three different disks and in two locations. It should be reasonably safe, providing you keep all copies up to date.
