Limited mobility

People with limited mobility often have difficulty getting out, for example, to the shops. ICT has helped through online shopping on the Web and home-delivery services.

Here are some examples of how people with limited mobility can be helped by ICT

Alternative keyboards can be used by people with some hand/arm movement. These can range from over-large to very small, like the one shown below, which is designed to be used with one hand, but will still allow input equivalent to a standard keyboard.


Word prediction software which guesses the word that a user wants to input is also useful for those with limited mobility.

Touch screen technology does away with a keyboard altogether and allows the user to operate the computer simply by touching the screen.
